Partial and Complete Dentures

If you've lost part or all of your natural teeth, whether from periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury, dentures can replace your missing teeth and your smile. Replacing missing teeth will benefit your appearance and your health. Without support from the denture, facial muscles sag, making a person look older. There are various types of dentures. A partial denture is used when a person still has some good teeth. A partial is made with some fake teeth that connect to existing teeth for retention. A complete denture is used when a person has lost all of their teeth or needs to have all their teeth extracted. An immediate complete denture can be inserted as soon as the remaining teeth are removed. With immediate dentures, the denture wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period.
